Don’t Feel Guilty This December

Most Decembers you see a lot of fitness accounts talk about “earning” your nights out over the Christmas period by getting workouts in. It’s well intentioned but it can create an unhealthy mindset and unhelpful attitude towards exercising and socialising.

Kasley Killam, in her book “The Art & Science Of Social Connection” talks about the importance of making time for your social health in addition to mental and physical health. Christmas can be the only time where you can catch up with your old friends or distant family members.

Yes, there might be richer food, less sleep and some alcohol. You can decide which events are worth it, and which events you want to cut loose at.

If you feel better to get some movement in consistently during the holiday period, move. If you find you need the extra sleep and need to lower your training volume a little bit, that’s okay too. Guilt, shame, can be powerful short term motivation but they’re not a long term strategy to your health and happiness.

We’re open over Christmas if you want to train and it suits your schedule. For members looking to make a plan or review their progress, book a goal review with your coach. For non members wanting to start now rather than January, book a consultation
