Story Time – Mental Health Hygiene

To us, health is more than just the absence of disease or the ability to do some burpees and box jumps. What you say to yourself and how you feel about yourself are important and deserve the same work with put into our nutrition and our work capacity.

Our brains are wired for survival, and this means they ‘naturally’ search for a threat. It’s up to us to consciously train our brain to search for happiness and opportunity.

1. GRATITUDE. Work each day to find things to be thankful for. If you’re reading this, you have access to a computer and the internet, for example. There is always going to be problems, so it’s important for our own happiness we take stock of the good.

2. DON’T COMPLAIN. It’s like drinking Coke, it feels good in the moment but damaging to your health. It focuses on areas outside of your control and weakens you.

3. SLEEP! Our brains recover at night and the more quality sleep we get the healthier and more positive we’ll be 🙂
