Why, How & When I started weightlifting
A little story time on a Monday on how, when & why I started Weightlifting 🏋🏻♂️
In the city I was born (Peqin ALB) were only two sports. Football and Weightlifting. I had cousins playing both sports but one of my father’s cousin (Juli) used to do Weightlifting, so he would bring me along the weightlifting gym since I was 4 or 5 years old. So maybe that’s how my love for the sport started.
I asked my parents how did I start weightlifting? Was I asking or did they register me so I had something to do on my free time? Turns out I asked them to register me in weightlifting because I wanted to lift weights and be strong like the guy that my cousin was training with, he was the first European champion for Albania. He was also the first one to welcome me and guide me through the warm up (Andi)!
I think I was 6 years old when I started, it was summer and all the guys at the gym remember my first day of training. Even though it was nearly 30 degrees, boiling hot,I was shaking like it was mid December. I remember all my future team mates, giving me their jacket or towels to stay warm. Later I learned that I was shaking because of nerves and adrenaline 🥹
