My first competition story 🏋️♂️😁
At just 7 years old, I was ready for my first ever weightlifting competition, or so I thought.
After many test days in the gym, I was finally on my way with my teammates and coach, super excited to lift, but guess what?
They didn’t let me compete because I was too young.
Still, that trip was unforgettable, being away from home, spending time with my team, and feeling part of something big. That’s when I knew, why I had chosen this sport!
A year later, I stepped on the platform for real, snatched 35kg, clean & jerked 45kg, weighing just 32kg bodyweight, and finished 5th out of 24 lifters. Not bad for a kid just having fun!
No medals, no pressure, just pure joy and the start of what would become my passion for lifting. Big thanks to my parents for supporting me (even if Mom wasn’t too happy about me spending more time training than studying 😅).
And that’s how it all began, the moment I got hooked on lifting.
So if you’re feeling nervous about competing… remember this, your first competition (actually every competition) isn’t about medals. It’s about experience, growth, and discovering what you love about the sport.
Every lifter starts somewhere and that first step is the one that changes everything.
