How to Break The Sugar Habit

In Greg Glassman’s prescription for CrossFit, fitness in 100 words, he writes we should eat “some fruit, a little starch, no sugar.”

Sugar, despite tasting great, is pretty bad news for our mood, our health and our bodyfat levels. And it’s very difficult to kick the sugar habit.

Habits generally have a trigger, an action, and a reward. Charles Duhigg, author of “The Power of Habit” claims that we can’t eliminate habits, only replace them.

The way to overcome your sugar habit is to realise your triggers, and replace one action (eating a chocolate bar) with a better one (eating fruit) so you still get the reward you’re looking for.
