Guaranteed Better is Better than Promised Perfection

I read a great line, on Cracked.com of all places, that really hit home with me.

It’s from a movie called “All That Jazz” that I’d never heard until this point.

“Listen, I can’t make you a great dancer. I don’t even know if I can make you a good dancer. But, if you keep trying and don’t quit, I know I can make you a better dancer.”

To me was just brilliant. We all want the perfect solution to our problem. That thing that definitely will not fail to help us lose the unwanted pounds, double our deadlift, solve our anxiety…

I get it, we’ve limited time and energy, and one of our biggest fears is that we’ll waste it on something that doesn’t work.

You know what definitely doesn’t work? Not doing anything to bring you closer to your goal.

As a coach, I can’t guarantee you’ll drop 2 jeans sizes in 8 weeks. I can’t guarantee you’ll get your first pull up in less than 6 months. I can’t guarantee you’ll get rid of those aches and pains from years of sitting at a desk.

What I can guarantee is that by doing something, by taking action, even if it’s a “wrong” one, will move the needle closer to your goal. Consistent action will make things better. Things will never be perfect, and there’s no such thing as a perfect plan, or one that’s executed perfectly. But if you take consistent action, making course corrections where necessary, you will most definitely get better. Guaranteed 😉
