Developing Your Headstand

The Headstand is an often overlooked skill in developing your handstand push up and handstand walking for CrossFit. The Headstand allows you to build core strength and body awareness for the more dynamic skills.

Start at the level that’s right for you, and gradually build up to a 60 second hold in each. Our recommendation is 12 seconds, then 24 seconds, 36, 48, 60 before progression to the next level.

If you feel yourself rushing at any point that’s a sign you haven’t developed the skill/strength/control and need to invest the time at an earlier stage of the progression.

How long can this take? Minutes to years! The important thing is to focus on virtuosity of one piece to allow you to progress safely to the next.
