CrossFit Won’t Work For You

It won’t work for you if you’re not showing up consistently, putting in the effort when you are training, and trusting that it will work.

Consistency is key. The best Programme in the world won’t work unless you’re putting in the necessary hours, and there’s no way around it. The worst Programme in the world will work better if you’re showing up daily(ish).

Next up is effort. Just moving is fine for keeping the engine ticking over but it takes work to move your health and fitness forward. You’re putting in the hour, might as well maximise the work you get done. This doesn’t need to be a gladiatorial effort every day, but it does need to be out of your comfort zone to bring results.

Finally, trust. There’s actually physiological differences in how your body responds to an effort when you think you’re doing something worthwhile versus when you doubt it has any benefit. This famous study of hotel maids shows the impact believing you’re doing something positive for your fitness can have. https://www.nytimes.com/2007/12/09/magazine/09mindfulexercise.html

I’ll admit that consistency, effort, and trust apply equally to any endeavour you do, CrossFit or not.

If you’re not seeing the results you deserve ask yourself which area – consistency, effort, or trust – can you improve on? Or if you’d like, book a consultation with me and we’ll work through it together.
