At CrossFit Ireland, we’re more than just a gym. we care as much about your character as we do your cardio. The journey is as much about your personality as it your personal bests. We want the best for everyone here. Below you’ll learn a little about who we are as a team and our goals for everyone involved.

WE ARE COACHABLE

Coachable means being humble, trusting, and growth-focused. If you’re humble you’re willing to listen to outside opinions and take them onboard. Those who trust the coach and the programme always excel. We understand that trust is a two way street, and it has to be earned bit by bit. Mini leaps of faith start to add up here. Growth-focused means we’re always trying to learn, better ourselves, and give our attention to the process, letting the results take care of themselves.

WE ARE ENTHUSIASTIC

Enthusiasm is a combination of positivity, effort, and gratitude. Emotions are contagious and we have the ability to influence them by focusing on the opportunities rather than the downfalls. We get out of anything what we put into it, so by giving your 100% on a given day, you’ll maximise your minutes. Gratitude, as a practice, is directly linked to happiness. We get to do this!

Team Players are supportive, conscientious, and inspire to those around them. We evolved in groups. Belonging and acceptance are vital to our health.We all need supportive encouragement, particularly when we’re outside our comfort zone trying new things. Recognising that others are also being challenged helps us get out of our own way. Focusing on others improves our own mood, and it comes back to us when we need it too.

FITNESS

The aim of CrossFit is to make you excellent at everything, and give you the ability to do more than you’ve ever done before! We want to embrace and develop the ten physical skills – cardiovascular/respiratory endurance, stamina, strength, flexibility, power, speed, coordination, agility, balance, accuracy. Fitness is the ability to live the life you want!

A combination of Colm & Dereks training & diet tips has lead me to lose about 4 stone in the last few months, on top of building muscle which is just as important… They  genuinely ask how you are and are genuinely concerned, it’s just the kind of personal touch you wont really find anywhere else.

HEALTH

Health to us has three main components – physical, social, and emotional. Physical health not only includes fitness above but also biomarkers such as body fat levels and absence of disease. Humans are wired to be part of a group and we create a team atmosphere of supportive people to satisfy that need for connection and belonging. Emotional health is developed by increasing your confidence, developing your self talk, and knowing that we’ve got your back.

HAPPINESS

Happiness is the ultimate goal. And it’s not on the other side of achievement. Happiness to us is a practice we get to do do daily, and can act like rocket fuel towards all our other goals. We can work daily on our gratitude, take time to acknowledge and savour our progress and build supportive relationships. This is why we’ll also make a bunch of jokes in training, we understand how important laughter is for stress relief, social bonding, and feeling good!

I remember being new and approaching a squat, my internal narrative telling me that I was too weak, that my knees would buckle, that it was pointless, that I should quit. But I got some encouragement from the coaches and the weight moved. Later in metcons it told me that I’d had enough, that I couldn’t keep going, that there was no point pretending I was going to finish. And I bought that for a while. But when I felt the energy of the other members around me and tested its pronouncement I found it really didn’t know what it was talking about.
